LAUREL, Md. — The Drycleaning & Laundry Institute (DLI) recently released a schedule of the virtual and in-person events it plans to hold in March. These offerings include educational events, a marketing brainstorming session, peer group meetings and more.
Customer Service Course
Because the first offering sold out in February, DLI will offer another installment of its virtual customer service course. The course, hosted by Jennifer Whitmarsh of Snappy Drycleaning and The Route Pros, will be held on March 5, 7 and 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. EST. In this course, DLI says, “students will learn how to create raving fans by confidently managing customer issues and gain insights into industry best practices.”
The cost of the course for non-DLI members is $449, $249 for budget and international members, $199 for standard members, $149 for gold members and free for premier members.
School of Drycleaning Technology Courses
DLI will also present two in-person, on-site courses in March — its 97th year of educating drycleaning personnel, managers, and business owners.
DLI’s Five-Day Introduction to Drycleaning Course will be held March 4-8, and is suited for experienced individuals or those who are new to the industry.
The Ten-Day Advanced Drycleaning Course will be held March 11-22, and is designed for individuals who have completed the Introduction to Drycleaning Course or have hands-on production experience and knowledge of basic stain removal and finishing techniques.
These courses are designed to run together as DLI’s 15-Day General Drycleaning Course. Scholarships are available for these courses, DLI states.
Online Presentations
DLI’s *Not Boring* “2024 Economic Forecast” web presentation by economist Chris Kuehl was moved to Wednesday, March 6 at 1 p.m. EST after technical problems caused the planned February event to be postponed
“Kuehl is known for his entertaining and informative look at economic concerns,” DLI says in its announcement. “While every crystal ball is foggy, Kuehl is well-informed and able to share economic data in enlightening and light-hearted ways.”
In recent years, many clothing care professionals expanded their levels of service for customers. To help drycleaners consider the possibility of introducing multiple service levels, DLI will present “Exploring Multiple Service Levels in Drycleaning” a live online presentation on Wednesday, March 27 at 1 p.m. Eastern on Zoom. DLI says that attendees will learn from several drycleaners who integrated multiple levels of service into their business strategy.
Other Online Offerings
On Wednesday, March 6 at 3 p.m. EST, DLI will host a virtual reception and orientation to allow members to see what the organization is offering.
On Wednesday, March 20 at 3 p.m. EST, DLI will hold its monthly virtual marketing lab, where all members are invited to brainstorm marketing ideas via a roundtable discussion.
Also, on each Tuesday of the month from 11:30 a.m to 12:30 a.m., DLI will host a peer-to-peer membership meeting via Zoom, where participants can network, share ideas and talk about issues they might be having.
