NEW YORK — Cents, a technology company specializing in helping dry cleaners and laundromat owners operate their businesses, recently announced that it has acquired Starchup, a pickup and delivery, dry cleaning, and POS software firm. Specific terms of the deal were not announced.
Through this acquisition, Cents says it will be able to bolster its existing pickup and delivery platform by adding new functionality, and plans to further invest in new tools and features to help laundry and dry cleaning owners grow their business.
“At Cents, we are committed to investing in innovative products and features that will enable our customers to run their businesses at the highest level,” says Alexander Jekowsky, CEO of Cents. “From hardware to software, POS to payroll, laundry and dry cleaning, it’s our mission to create the best all-in-one platform.”
Jekowsky says that adding Starchup’s expertise to Cents is the next step toward achieving this goal: “We are so excited to be acquiring Starchup in order to deepen our expertise and product offering of Pickup and Delivery management tools for operators managing their own vehicles, mobile order experiences, and more.”
In the statement announcing the acquisition, Cents says it wants to grow the technology that allows dry cleaners to take advantage of pickup and delivery options available to them. The merging of technology and services between Cents and Starchup will be offered as a suite of pickup and delivery products and integration, called Cents Dispatch. Nick Chapleau, CEO of Starchup, will be joining Cents as the head of dispatch, and will be responsible for the continued education, development, and advancement of the new product.
“The entire Starchup team is thrilled to bring our best-in-class delivery products to Cents to support and empower thousands of operators across the country,” says Chapleau. “We’ve seen a lot of companies enter into the tech space in our industry, but I’ve never had such confidence in a product and team as I do in Cents.”
