Omaha Lace Cleaners Celebrates Centennial Anniversary

Business has expanded over time to better serve its clientele

OMAHA, Neb. — A high-end drycleaning company recently celebrated a century of service to its customers. Omaha Lace Cleaners, a company specializing in wedding gown preservation and high-end drycleaning services, has passed the 100-year mark, still at its original location.

Omaha Lace Cleaners was purchased by its current owner, Kermit Engh, in 2000. Engh has owned Fashion Cleaners since 1992 and saw the purchase as a way to grow both companies. Omaha Lace Laundry serviced a clientele that was consistent with those that Fashion Cleaners serviced, and it provided an additional avenue of growth by adding French Lace Laundry. In addition, it offered a unique niche for bridal, high-end tablecloths, and linen and had the equipment needed to clean and care for those garments and household items correctly, which extends to the present day.

After purchasing the company, Engh set about making improvements and modernization. The bridal gown services were greatly expanded and improved, and in 2003, Omaha Lace Cleaners became Nebraska's only Certified Wedding Gown Specialist and member of The Association of Wedding Gown Specialists.

A bridal gown alteration service was added in 2010, offering private fittings and expert alterations, and recently, a bridal studio offering full-service onsite bridal alterations was added to the flagship Omaha Lace Cleaners location, allowing this location to provide all wedding gown services in one place.

Through the years, Omaha Lace Cleaners has gained a reputation as Nebraska's go-to wedding gown care provider, including heirloom gown restoration, preservation, and cleaning, recommended by high-end bridal salons throughout the state.
