AUSTIN, Texas — The Southwest Drycleaners Association (SDA) will hold its Board of Directors and Membership meeting in Little Rock, Ark., at the Capital hotel, Oct. 13-14, it reports.
“Our members have been communicating that they are really looking forward to the Little Rock meeting. It will be the last one before SDA Cleaner’s Showcase next spring (April 5-7, 2018), in Shreveport, La., so planning and promotions will take a front seat,” says Chuck Hempstead, executive director of the SDA.
While in Little Rock, he notes: “We are taking a field trip to the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum, which includes much of the history of the end of the last century.”
The library and museum have replicas of the oval office and cabinet room. They also have exhibits of documents, and photographs, of his life as a president, as well as photographs of his childhood.
Little Rock is known for its charming hospitality, history and culture, the association writes, and is the capital of Arkansas, is located on the Arkansas River, and has a population of 197,706 residents.
The Capital hotel, it continues, has been around since 1876. After 130 years it now has become the “Grand Dame” of downtown Little Rock, and is conveniently located within walking distance to not only the library and museum, but the Museum of Discovery and the River Market, the SDA notes.
