GREENBELT, Md. — ZIPS Dry Cleaners, an aggressively expanding drycleaning franchise known for its same-day, one-price business model, has opened its second Washington, D.C., location, at 1571 Maryland Ave. NE, the company reports.
Located in the Hechinger Mall shopping center, the new ZIPS is owned and operated by Brett Vago, a founding member of the company with 30 years of drycleaning experience and small-business ownership.
“The demand for our services in D.C. has significantly increased over the past few years and we wanted to provide easier access to our customers with an additional location,” says Vago. “The new location is obviously a testament to our business model and loyalty to our customers.”
Vago brought the first ZIPS Dry Cleaners to Washington over 15 years ago, at 4418 Connecticut Ave. NW.
“Washington, D.C., was one of the original markets where ZIPS first began its same-day, one-price model and we are thrilled to see it grow and become even more available to customers,” says Vice President of Franchise Development Aaron Goldberg.
The new project, which has taken over five years to develop, needed extensive research and planning to find a location that could handle the volume of traffic as well as maintain the “In by 9, Out by 5,” commitment of all ZIPS stores, the franchise reports.
ZIPS Dry Cleaners at Hechinger Mall will be the 45th store open, setting the stage for 12 months of ZIPS surpassing the mark of 300 stores in various stages of development.
“It has been a momentous year for ZIPS Dry Cleaners, and this opening is one of the biggest accomplishments to date,” Goldberg says.
ZIPS Dry Cleaners’ business model is based on a concept revolutionary to the industry and clearly in high demand among today’s price-savvy consumers, the company says.
