LEEDS, Ala. — On April 21, M&B Hangers’ Leeds, Ala., production facility celebrated five years without a single lost-time accident. Human-resources manager Darlene Yarobrough helped employees mark the occasion by cooking more than 100 steaks for workers on each of the company’s three shifts.
“We are fortunate to employ some of the finest people in the Leeds, Ala., area, and we are very thankful they take safety as seriously as we do,” says company president Milton Magnus.
Through education and communication, M&B stresses safety to every new and continuing associate. Yarobrough and operations manager Dallas White set a safety standard that encourages and protects each and every member of the M&B team, the company says, including programs to encourage peer support of safe work habits and practices. Safety itself is a good business practice, M&B adds, because it protects associates from injury, saves money and builds morale.
M&B has received numerous recognitions from the State of Alabama for its commitment to safety, including Workplace Safety Awards of Excellence in 2007-2010. M&B also earned first place in Manufacture Alabama’s Safety Achievement Program in 2007 and 2010.
