GLEN COVE, N.Y. — Greensleeves Garment Care offered drycleaning services free of charge over the weekend to celebrate its first anniversary in business.
“We want people to try a new kind of drycleaning, and we will do it for free!” says Greensleeves co-owner Thomas Davis. "Once people get over their fear of trying a new method of cleaning, they are amazed at the results.”
The “environmentally friendly” operation accepted one garment per person for free cleaning on Saturday, March 1. Greensleeves uses GreenEarth Cleaning’s silicon-based solvent and wetcleaning exclusively to process garments.
The plant also used the occasion to introduce its new biodegradable poly packaging, which breaks down in less than two years without releasing methane. Greensleeves uses hangers made of recycled paper, and maintains an environmentalist weblog, “Living The Green Way,” which can be accessed here.
