NEW ORLEANS — European textile-care association CINET announced this morning that it will donate $10,000 to help fund a “Fashion Care” public-relations initiative created by the German drycleaning and laundry associations DTV and EFIT.
A survey of CINET members recently revealed textile-care markets are suffering from the worldwide recession, and asked for ideas to shore up business. The German associations’ winning suggestion will establish a guarantee of quality similar to the Drycleaning & Laundry Institute’s (DLI) Award of Excellence. Other ideas included the establishment of an international database of technical issues, new-products development and “green” initiatives.
The hotel, hospitality and uniform-services sectors of the drycleaning and laundry markets in the European Union have been affected most severely by the downturn. CINET plans to post full survey results at its website, www.cinet-online.net, next week.
