NEW YORK — The National Cleaners Association (NCA) is hosting its annual Brainstorming with The Best conference at the Ritz Carlton’s Rose Hall in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Jan. 14-17, 2010.
The Brainstorming experience begins on Thursday, Jan. 14, with a welcome reception and cocktail party featuring complimentary drinks and food. Spouses and children are welcome.
From 9:00 a.m. to noon on Friday, Jan. 15, Chris Considine and Lee Tomlinson will tell attendees about the “WAYMISH” problem, or “Why Are You Making It So Hard ... for me to give you my money?” The presentation will tell how to avoid the slights and displays of apathy employees and businesses sometimes make, NCA says, that can lead customers to believe that they don’t really want their business.
Considine and Tomlinson will tell attendees how to detect a WAYMISH bug and snuff it out; stop the outflow of silent, unhappy customers; shut off the resulting drain on profits; stamp out insensitive, stupid mistakes that drive customers away; and learn how to create customers for life, NCA says.
On the morning of Saturday, Jan. 16, presenter John Jantsch will offer real-world, small-business marketing strategies, ideas and tips in “Attracting New Customers The Duct-Tape Way.” Attendees will discover how to create low-cost, high-return, lead-generation plans that incorporate advertising, public relations and referral marketing.
Jantsch is a marketing and digital technology coach, award-winning social media publisher and author of the best-selling Duct-Tape Marketing — The World’s Most Practical Small-Business Marketing Guide.
On Sunday, Jan. 17, “An Ounce of Prevention: Avoiding Employee Lawsuits” will point out the many ways in which a drycleaner could end up as the defendant in a discrimination lawsuit. Labor and human-rights attorney Steve Morelli will explain what attorneys look for when they want to build a discrimination lawsuit against an employer, and share simple steps drycleaners can take to protect themselves from lawsuits and EEOC complaints.
Brainstorming with The Best costs $595 for NCA members; spouses or significant others can join for $295. Nonmembers pay $695 to attend, plus $325 for a spouse or significant other.
