The Textile Care Allied Trades Association (TCATA) is holding its Annual Management & Educational Conference at the Wild Dunes Resort in Charleston, S.C., April 28-May 1, and Herb Meyer, former special assistant to the director of Central Intelligence and vice chairman of the CIA’s National Intelligence Council, will give the keynote presentation.
Meyer’s “What in The World is Going On?” will cover national security, economic and cultural issues in an effort to explain how they affect all businesses. Meyer will offer information and outline steps drycleaners can take in their businesses to best deal with what’s happening worldwide.
Meyer will focus on terrorism, the rapid industrialization of China and India, the growth of the global economy, demographic issues in Western Europe, Japan and North America, the current financial crisis, and more.
Meyer served with the CIA during the Reagan Administration, and later served as an associate editor at Fortune. He has authored several books, including The War Against Progress, Real-World Intelligence and Hard Thinking.
In “How to Build an Online Marketing Machine,” Bob DeStefano of SVM E-Business Solutions will provide attendees with a practical roadmap for transforming a website into an online marketing machine.
Attendees will learn how to create a niche-marketing strategy, generate leads from their websites, attract new customers from search engines, sell more to existing customers, measure ROI on marketing investments, and use social-networking tools.
DeStefano is president of SVM E-Business Solutions, a provider of strategic online marketing solutions. Since founding SVM in 1995, DeStefano he has worked with a variety of businesses ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small, family-owned businesses.
In “What Is Happening in Washington And Why You Should Care,” speaker Jade West will update attendees on legislation that may affect business, and discuss ways to contact members of Congress in order to have maximum impact. West is senior vice president of government relations for the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) and its senior lobbyist.
“What You Need to Know—DOT, EPA & OSHA Issues,” will cover regulatory and compliance issues. Speaker Bill Keene has more than 35 years of experience in regulatory issues and is a member of the Government Affairs department of the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD).
