Louisville, Ky. — Greater Louisville Inc. (GLI), the city’s chamber of commerce organization, recently recognized Nu Yale Cleaners with an Inc.redible award for Greening/Sustainability.
The award is one of eight that GLI gives out at its annual Celebration of Small Business luncheon. In order to qualify for the Greening/Sustainability award, a company must manufacture “green” products or follow green practices assiduously.
Nu Yale uses the Solvair process, and offers caddies to encourage the recycling of hangers, sweater bags and poly. The company also followed “green” building practices for its new, 50,000-sq.-ft. plant.
Brothers Gary, Michael and Bill Maloney currently operate the 11-store chain, which has been family-owned since 1956. Nu Yale is an America’s Best Cleaners (ABC) affiliate and a CRDN restoration franchisee.
Serving parts of Southern Indiana and Ohio from its Louisville headquarters, Nu Yale also won the 2009 Indiana Governor’s Award for “green” practices.
