Zengeler Cleaners Kicks off 2022 Prom Dress Collection Drive

Donation-stocked ‘Pop Up Prom Shoppes’ will open in March

NORTHBROOK, Ill. — As the pandemic recedes and activities start to return to normal, events such as proms are back on schedule. In an effort to ensure that students can take part in this rite of passage, Zengeler Cleaners announced it is once again collecting prom dresses and accessories and partnering with Mothers Trust Foundation (MTF) of Lake Forest. Their goal is to distribute the dresses to thousands of northern Illinois high school women who otherwise could not afford to experience the joy of prom.

“After checking with local schools, almost all are hoping to normalize their schedules and calendars, including prom,” said Tom Zengeler, President of Zengeler Cleaners. “Prom is one of those special events students remember for years beyond high school. Mothers Trust Foundation and Zengeler Cleaners want to ensure that the cost of a prom dress isn’t the reason someone cannot attend. With generous donations from former students and our wonderful customers, we’ll be able to eliminate that obstacle for thousands of students.”

As part of this effort, Mothers Trust Foundation will host two “Pop Up Prom Shoppes,” where “personal shoppers” help students select their dress. This year’s dress distribution events will be held at the University Center of Lake County on Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13.

Zengeler Cleaners says it provides several services for the dress collection drive. In addition to working with area high schools to solicit donations from local students, their stores also serve as collection points for donations from individuals, organizations and businesses. The cleaner inspects, repairs as needed and cleans the donated items, all at no cost to Mothers Trust Foundation.
