COCOA BEACH, Fla. — Crest Cleaners recently hosted a meeting of Tuchman Training Systems (TTS). According to Ellen Rothmann, president of TTS, a drycleaning management and cost group, the event featured a tour of the host’s drycleaning plant followed by a member critique.
“It is always a pleasure to host a group of your peers who can provide you with some of the best feedback possible,” says Kevin Houston of Crest Cleaners. “We all need a fresh set of eyes to look at our business from time to time and the Tuchman group provides that for us.”
Twenty people attended the recent meeting representing 12 affiliated companies.
“A major highlight was the addition of two new members to our group, David Makepeace of Medlin-Davis, North, and Brett Allen of Medlin-Davis, South,” Rothmann says.
“I joined the Tuchman Group because between all the members, there is over 100 years of successful drycleaning experience to draw from,” Allen says.
“This sharing of information will be invaluable to me as I continue to build and grow my own business, In addition, I feel that I will also be able to contribute positively towards the group.”
“I returned to the group after 10 years and found that it still had many of the same members,” says Makepeace, “which is a testament to its enduring value.”
He added the group was “full of innovative and progressive members.”
Guest speakers at the event included Rick Rome, CEO of WashClub, who discussed his company; and John Rothmann, radio talk show host at KGO-AM 810, who gave a political analysis leading up to the 2016 presidential election, Rothmann notes.
The lucky group witnessed the launch of a satellite rocket with GPS cargo from Cape Canaveral and visited the Exploration Tower at Port Canaveral, Fla.
“Our group was founded 25 years ago by the legendary Sid Tuchman,” Rothmann relates. “We meet three times a year and rotate locations. Our next meeting will be hosted by Dave Coyle from In The Bag Cleaners in Wichita, Kan., at the end of June.”
TTS affords its members “the opportunity to focus on marketing, sales, production, financial and social media goals while demonstrating great camaraderie and having fun,” she adds.
