Cleaner is first North American company to receive honor

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Oceanside Cleaners became the first North American company to receive the CINET 2020 Global Best Business Practices Award for Retail Dry Cleaners. The honor comes after the company competed in a thorough selection process and competed with companies worldwide, CINET says.

Finalists were judged in the categories of “quality,” “sustainability,” “business model & service concept,” “innovations” and “key-notes.” From a possible 50 points, Oceanside scored highest with a score of 39.5, based primarily on its outstanding quality of sustainability and company culture.

A family-owned and -operated business, Oceanside has served the Jacksonville area for 30 years and employs 81 people. The company prides itself on its commitment to what it calls its "CARE" mission statement: “C = Customer-Centric, A = Attention to Details, R = Respect the Community and E = Empower One Another.” The company also has committed to emission reduction, recycling and other eco-friendly innovations.

“Our quality control approach focuses heavily on creating a healthy work culture and well-trained team, which in turn drives high-quality control for our customers," the company says in a statement. “Every garment that comes into our facility, for example, is handled by 13 separate employees, with an awareness of quality control at every stage. At any time, all employees are empowered to send a garment to another department if it needs attention, whether for spotting, alterations, or pressing.”

CINET, an international umbrella association of the professional textile care industry, sponsors the annual awards as a way to highlight industry best practices and demonstrate the textile care industry’s capabilities and focus on a high standard of quality, new business services, innovation, and sustainability.
