Lapels Opens Newest Enviro-Friendly Store in Stoughton, Mass.

‘Non-toxic way of dry cleaning,’ says co-owner Wong

STOUGHTON, Mass. — Lapels Dry Cleaning opened a full-service, environmentally friendly drycleaning plant at 1540 Turnpike Street here on April 2, the company says.

“The response at our opening was great, in spite of some nasty weather that day,” says Tom Wong, one of the owners of Lapels Dry Cleaning of Stoughton. “We look forward to serving the people of Stoughton, showing them the Lapels Dry Cleaning difference.”

Wong adds that they’re excited to “bring a sustainable, non-toxic way of drycleaning clothes to Stoughton.”

Lapels, headquartered in Hanover, Mass., has pioneered its eco-friendly drycleaning experience over the past dozen years. Part of that effort includes a partnership agreement with GreenEarth®, the drycleaning industry’s only non-toxic cleaning alternative for its newer locations like Lapels Dry Cleaning of Stoughton, says Lapels.

Using these kinds of solutions and the latest technology in equipment, Lapels says it is one of the few dry cleaners able to boast that there is no hazardous waste produced. The cleaning process has no odor and is gentler on clothes, thus lengthening garment life, the company reports.

“There is a lot of confusion out there about organic, environmentally friendly, etc. — but we are the only cleaner that is 100% non-toxic,” says Lapels CEO Kevin Dubois. “There is only one solvent that is non-toxic and it is GreenEarth, and combined with our proprietary equipment that we clean the clothes in and our wetcleaning option, we are Stoughton’s only non-toxic dry cleaner.”

The Lapels franchise, headquartered in Hanover, Mass., notes that it offers customers such extras as: loyalty programs; Automatic Rewards earning them credit toward free dry cleaning for every dollar spent; a VIP program that eliminates the need to wait in line; the use of a 24-hour drop-off service; and free home delivery. Same-day service is also available with pickup after 5 p.m.

Lapels also offers a “car hop” service through which customers can drop off and pick up their clothing without ever leaving their vehicle.
