IDC Sets Preliminary Plans for Dublin

The International Drycleaners Congress (IDC) has set a preliminary agenda for its 2010 convention, slated for Sept. 23-26 in Dublin, Ireland. The convention will offer drycleaners an opportunity to meet with industry colleagues, share information and strategies, and build relationships that transcend national boundaries, IDC says.
Attendee registration begins Thursday, Sept. 23, alongside a suppliers’ exhibition. Scheduled events include an IDC board meeting, an afternoon conference session and an evening attendees’ reception. The exhibition and conference sessions continue on Friday, and attendees will be invited to sign up for one of IDC’s plant tours.
Saturday will feature international reports from IDC members, in addition to the exhibition. IDC has also slated a day tour of Dublin including a visit to the Guinness brewery, with a reception, flag ceremony and gala dinner that evening. Drycleaners will end the festivities on Sunday morning at the association’s Sayonara Breakfast.
IDC typically offers optional pleasure tours before and after the convention, and will announce the details as they become available. The convention site, Dublin, offers plenty of nightlife and attractions, with a compact city center that can be navigated by foot.
The Irish National Museum, National Library and National Gallery lie in close proximity to one another, and are all free of charge. In addition, the capital city’s affluent suburbs are home to some of Ireland’s finest Victorian architecture, and are also walkable.
No visit to Dublin would be complete without a visit to at least one of its more than 600 pubs, IDC adds. The Temple Bar district features a mixture of food, drink, shopping and music, and the narrow, cobblestone streets offer a quaint, traditional atmosphere. Its central location makes it easy to reach on foot from Dublin’s city center.
