Getting Power Back on After Irma

Fabricare businesses close for a day, or more, doing ‘ok’

CHICAGO — Three people with fabricare businesses located in Florida and Georgia, states hit by Hurricane Irma, talked with American Drycleaner by phone this week in the storm’s aftermath.

Here are their comments:

John Pabalan at Kemco Systems, a water and energy company in Clearwater, Fla. (near Tampa): “Pinellas County where we are located had flooding, but our employees are all okay.

“We closed Monday, Sept. 11, as a precaution, but we opened again Tuesday. We just wanted to make sure our people were safe. There are people still getting their power back across the state. These are tough things to go through down here but we’re ok.”

Amir Momin is the owner of Caché Cleaners in Deerfield Beach, Fla. (near Ft. Lauderdale): “All of my people are safe. Some left town, some went up to Atlanta. We just lost power for one day. Five of our 7 stores had no power.

“We’re not going to open fully until Monday, Sept. 18, as it’s just not safe yet. More than 400,000 were without power in Broward County. It’s not the first time this has happened. It will go back to normal when the schools re-open.”

Ed. Note: according to the website they will have limited hours Friday and Saturday.

Steve Henley at Realstar, a manufacturer of drycleaning machines in McDonough, Ga. (south of Atlanta): “All our employees are safe. Just a few power outages. we closed early on Monday to be safe. We’re ok.”
