PULASKI, N.Y. — New York’s Upstate Regional Blueprint Fund has awarded the Fulton Cos., manufacturer of steam, hot water and thermal fluid heat-transfer products, a $1.5 million grant to expand its facilities. New York Gov. David A. Paterson announced the award during a visit to Fulton headquarters in Pulaski, N.Y., last month.
Fulton’s $13.5 million expansion project will add 125,000 square feet to its manufacturing plant, including a research and design center that will investigate alternative fuels. The project is the largest capital investment in the community in more than 20 years.
“We are thrilled to receive this grant and appreciate the support for our plans that it represents,” says Kathy Sega, Fulton executive vice president and general manager. “At a time when the economy causes many companies to struggle to stay afloat, we are in the fortunate position to be able to look to the future and build a facility that will provide additional jobs for our community.”
The expansion project is one of 15 projects that will receive a total of $17.5 million in funding from the Upstate Regional Blueprint Fund. Intended to revitalize Upstate New York’s economy, the $120 million fund was launched in May and supports projects that provide a framework for growth in regions with stymied business development. The first round of funding finances business investment, infrastructure upgrades and downtown redevelopment, and applicants are subject to a competitive review.
This is the second grant the state has awarded to Fulton this year. In June, the company received a grant from the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority to develop a high-efficiency boiler fired by natural gas and B-100 biodiesel.
