LAUREL, Md. — The Drycleaning & Laundry Institute (DLI) is seeking two directors for its Western Districts 7 and 8. Those selected will take over the regions when the current directors’ terms expire next June.
David “Dryclean Dave” Silliman currently represents District 7, and owns Uptowne Drycleaning Inc. in Phoenix, Ariz. The district covers a 10-state region comprised of Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Wyoming, and Washington.
Barry Gershenson now oversees District 8 and is affiliated with Sterling Westwood Inc. in Los Angeles. District 8 serves member companies in California and Hawaii.
Silliman and Gershenson will complete their terms at DLI’s June 2008 board meeting. Silliman became DLI treasurer in a special election in November and will remain the association’s president-elect.
To be considered for DLI’s board of directors, candidates must be a drycleaning plant owner and an active DLI member in the district they wish to represent. Anyone in Districts 7 or 8 can nominate a candidate for an open board seat by contacting the current director.
To nominate a drycleaner for the director position, e-mail Silliman at [email protected], or Gershenson at [email protected]. Nominations will be accepted through Feb. 15, 2008. DLI will issue a secret ballot to its members in the two regions the following month and tally the results starting in April 2008.
