DLI Finalizes Clean Show Plans

LAUREL, Md. — The deadline to take advantage of early registration for the 2011 Clean Show, set for June 6-9, 2011 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev., is approaching fast. Attendees can preregister for $99 per person through May 13; after that date, showgoers must register on-site for a fee of $149 per person.
Mary Scalco, newly appointed operations chief for the Drycleaning & Laundry Institute (DLI), recently participated in a Clean Executive Committee meeting to finalize plans for the industry’s biggest show, and reports that exhibitors are eager to meet drycleaning operators and show off their products.
“To date, we have sold 94% of the show’s floorspace,” Scalco says. Not only will exhibitors again have working displays at Clean, “many will be unveiling a new product or offering a significant update to an existing product. The Clean Show drives innovation by setting the bar very high for new products.”
DLI will have representatives available at the show’s sponsor pavilion to meet members and prospective members, as well as representatives from Irving Weber Associates (IWA), its endorsed insurance program. Attendees are invited to try out the latest edition of the association’s Encyclopedia of Drycleaning CD, which now features a faster search function.
DLI has prepared a full slate of educational seminars designed to help attendees keep ahead of changes in new technologies, marketing and legislation. Details on all of the show’s educational sessions will appear in next month’s issue, but DLI’s will include “Customers Are Everywhere—You Just Have to Know Where to Look,” with Al Lautenslager; “Face to Facebook: Capitalizing on Social Media,” with Puritan Cleaners’ Norman Way; and “Healthcare Reform Is Making Me Sick,” with attorney Frank Kollman.
“We always set our sights high for the Clean Show,” Scalco says. “This year is no different. Our industry experts deliver seminars filled with new techniques and strategies cleaners can use to gain an edge in today’s economy. It’s tough out there, and our cleaners need to be tougher. That’s why we’ve selected topics and speakers who can help cleaners get results.”
DLI will also offer a members’ reception at its headquarters hotel, Paris Las Vegas, on the evening of Tuesday, June 7. The Clean Show is sponsored jointly by DLI, the Association for Linen Management (ALM), the Coin Laundry Association (CLA), the Textile Care Allied Trades Association (TCATA) and the Textile Rental Services Association (TRSA).
