NEW ORLEANS — This year’s Clean Show will feature 43 hours of classroom seminars covering all segments of the industry, an expanded offering compared to previous shows, according to Riddle & Associates, the show-management company behind Clean. Clean ’09 is set for June 18-21 here at the Morial Convention Center.
Educational sessions are included in the show registration fee ($60 per person if preregistered; $95 on-site), and will be offered all four show days. Sessions are scheduled to meet from 8 to 10 a.m. each day to minimize conflict with exhibit hours — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 18; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 19-20, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 21.
“Education comes in many forms, and we consider our tradeshow floor the largest interactive classroom in the industry,” says John Riddle, president of Riddle & Associates. “Over 450 companies are making a commitment to participate and share their solutions with the industry.”
Five of the show’s six sponsor associations will offer educational sessions, including the Association for Linen Management (ALM), Coin Laundry Association (CLA), Drycleaning & Laundry Institute (DLI), Textile Rental Services Association (TRSA) and Uniform and Textile Service Association (UTSA).
Seven additional industry-related associations from the United States, Canada and Europe will also offer sessions. They include the American Reusable Textile Association (ARTA), Canadian Cleaners & Launderers Allied Trades Association (CLATA), Comité International de l’Entretien du Textile (CINET), Textile Services Association Ltd. (TSA), European Textile Services Association (ETSA), Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC) and International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA).
Though each group will focus primarily on its own segment of the industry, some sessions will have universal appeal, Riddle says. Attendees can take advantage of the sessions of their choice, regardless of membership.
DLI sessions dedicated to drycleaners will include “Labor Savings — What New Automated Equipment Can Do For You,” “AOE Helped Build My Business, and It Can Help Build Yours,” “Picking Up From Customers = Picking Up Profits,” “The Great Solvent Debate,” and “Websites: If You Build It, They (Customers) Will Come.”
Additional seminars of interest to drycleaners include CLA’s “Developing a Marketing Plan with Punch,” “Garment Care Toolkit: Stain Removal Basics,” and “Evaluating an Investment in Coin Laundry.” CLATA will offer “Reduce Water Usage in Laundry Operations and Save $$$$.” CINET/TSA will offer “Global Cleaning Technology: Latest Available New Technologies,” “New Finishing Techniques,” and “Sustainable E-Drycleaning Project.”
