SAN FRANCISCO — Drycleaning industry consultant Methods for Management (MfM) hosted its biennial Success Conference in September at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico, the company reports.
The conference focused on interaction to promote profit, sales, business development, effective management and creativity among owners and vendors in the drycleaning industry from around the U.S., Canada, England and the Bahamas, it notes.
Among the featured presentations were From Surviving to Thriving by Krista Clive-Smith, industry expert in marketing and social media, and Leadership Lessons to Get Mind Capture and Keep More Clients from Tony Rubleski of Mind Capture.
Dry cleaners worldwide competed for awards, MfM says, with moderators Lisa Hiebert (Best Care Dry Cleaners, Winnipeg, Alberta, Canada) and Rich Aviles (Bridge Cleaners, Brooklyn, N.Y.) congratulating these winners:
Store of the Year: Balfurd Cleaners, State College, Pa.;
Website of the Year: Martinizing, Waukesha, Wis.;
Van of the Year: New Oriental Cleaners, Nassau, The Bahamas;
Social Media Award: Clothesline Cleaners, Boise, Idaho;
Sales & Marketing Award: Hallak Cleaners, New York, N.Y.; and,
Most Innovative Idea Award: Martinizing, Waukesha, Wis.
A panel of MfM members discussed ideas related to dynamic sales growth. They included Aline Gadue Stirling of Gadue’s Dry Cleaning, Burlington, Vt.; Jan Barlow of Jan’s Cleaners, Clio, Mich.; and Audra Gude of FRSTeam, Omaha, Neb.
MfM members and vendors also participated in roundtable discussions, with subjects that included The Uberization of Dry Cleaning, led by Mark Jones of SPOT, and Selling to Professionals, led by John-Claude Hallak of Hallak Cleaners, New York City, among others.
The consulting firm has management bureaus that provide a safe, non-competitive environment where members share information, issues, and concerns with peers they trust and respect, says MfM. It has been helping clients, both nationally and internationally, improve profits and operations since 1953.
