BEIJING, China — Texcare Asia 2009, featuring more than 130 exhibitors in what organizer Messe Frankfurt is calling the “largest one yet,” opened here Wednesday at the China International Exhibition Centre.
Exhibitors from 17 countries and regions are represented in Hall 8 of the large exhibition hall complex. The Texcare Asia exhibition floor covers roughly 10,000 square meters (32,808 square feet).
While Asia’s International Trade Fair for Modern Textile Care last opened to pomp and circumstance two years ago in Shanghai, Wednesday’s opening was less formal. Association leaders and show sponsors welcomed special guests during a private briefing, before leading them on a VIP tour where they stopped at some key booths to greet exhibitors and pose for photos.
Visitor delegations from Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the Netherlands, Singapore, Sweden and Turkey are expected to attend by virtue of the show’s support among many international trade associations.
Everyone who attends Texcare Asia — and the show floor seemed busy on the first day — enters through metal detectors. Uniformed security officers patrol the floor and are positioned at entrances/exits.
The show’s rectangular layout makes it easy for visitors to find an exhibitor, whether they occupy one of the large booths in the center of the hall or one of the small booths along the outer boundaries.
In their pursuit of information on Wednesday, many attendees were armed with cameras: camera phones, digital cameras and even handheld camcorders. It was common to see visitors photographing or taping demonstrations and equipment in operation.
Alliance Laundry Systems, Electrolux, Kannegiesser, Jensen Group, Sailstar, Shanghai Weishi, Sealion and United Electric are just some of the top international brands showcasing their products here, show organizer Messe Frankfurt says.
Pellerin Milnor Corp., Dexter, Forenta, Maytag Commercial Laundry, Hoffman/New Yorker, A.L. Wilson Chemical Co., and Tingue, Brown & Co. are among the U.S. companies exhibiting here.
“Texcare Asia is the most important industry exhibition in China,” writes Guo Chaomin, general manager, China National Building Material and Light Industrial Machinery Group Corp., in a welcome message published in the official Texcare Asia catalog. “It leads the direction of industry technology development and provides an international networking platform.”
“The fast economic growth of the Chinese market creates a demand for more sophisticated laundry and drycleaning products and services,” writes Peter Wennekes, secretary general, CINET (International Committee of Textile Care), in his welcome message. “The professional textile care industry in China and other Asian countries may still be young, but the market opportunities are exciting.”
CINET and other associations have organized Texcare Forum Asia, running concurrently with the exhibitions. During afternoons of the show’s first two days, a panel of international experts from leading companies and institutes from across Asia, Europe and the United States is addressing key issues relevant to sustaining growth of professional textile care in Asia.
Texcare Asia closes on Friday.
