Burke Named Editor of American Drycleaner

Brings two decades of experience as magazine editor, freelance writer, more

CHICAGO — American Trade Magazines LLC, the parent company of American Drycleaner, has hired Tim Burke as the magazine’s new editor, effective immediately. He reports to Editorial Director Bruce Beggs.

Burke assumes day-to-day responsibility for the magazine from Beggs, who had served as editor while also directing sister publications American Coin-Op and American Laundry News and other editorial projects for American Trade Magazines.

Burke is a publishing professional with more than two decades of experience as a magazine editor, freelance writer and print production specialist. He brings strengths in magazine publishing, having covered markets as diverse as public safety, criminal justice, healthcare and fraternal societies.

He has developed editorial content in areas rich with technology, training, health and safety topics, as well as shared success stories and news of achievements by members of his target audience.

“Tim has only been on the job for a short time but I already see the traits of a good journalist at work,” says Beggs. “He’s naturally inquisitive and quite comfortable asking whatever questions are needed to better understand the subject matter and to inform our readers.”

“We’re excited to have Tim onboard with us,” says Charlie Thompson, president and publisher of American Trade Magazines LLC. “He brings years of true journalism experience and a fresh perspective to the coverage of our industry. I think our readers will be excited to see the work he produces.”

“I want to build on the great strengths of American Drycleaner already in place and help bring the drycleaning industry’s best stories to the pages of the magazine and its website,” says Burke. “I’m excited to be here and look forward to meeting and talking with readers and associates in the business.”

Burke and his wife, Ann, recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. They have three college-age children: daughters Alissa and Amy, and son Jack.

Burke counts reading novels, listening to rock and jazz music, skiing, and golf among his hobbies.
