Deadline for Round 1 applications is Jan. 13

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The first round of the California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program is now available for businesses within the state and is accepting applications until Jan. 13, 2021.

The grants, which do not have to be repaid, range between $5,000 and $25,000, depending on the company’s annual revenue. Businesses with an annual revenue of between $1,000 and $100,000 are eligible for $5,000 grants; those greater than $100,000 up to $1,000,000 are eligible for $15,000; and those greater than $1,000,000 up to $2,500,000 can receive $25,000. There is no cost for applications.

Applicants will need to show the following documents to be eligible for the grant:

  • A signed application certification
  • The most recent tax return filed for the business
  • Official filings with the California Secretary of State or local municipality (this can include articles of incorporation, certificate of organization or government-issued business license)
  • Government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license or passport)

There will be a second round of grants at a date to be determined. Those who complete applications for Round 1 but do not receive funds are automatically considered in Round 2. Owners of multiple businesses, locations, franchises or other circumstances will only be considered for one grant, and they must apply for the business with the highest revenue.
